Abstract

The research aimed at identifying the effect of a program based on cognitive apprenticeship in “Rational Numbers” Unit on developing algebraic thinking among preparatory school female students. The researcher prepared a teacher's guide and an algebraic thinking test. The research sample consisted of (60) female students in the second year of the preparatory school in the Al Jouf region - in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia consisting of two classes: one as a treatment group of (30) students, and the other as a control group of (30) students. The algebraic thinking test was pre-post administered. The treatment group was taught according to the cognitive apprenticeship, while the control group studied using the usual methods. The research found out that the female students of the treatment group were superior to those of the control group in the Algebraic Thinking Post Test as a whole and its sub-dimensions. The researcher attributed this to the fact that the teaching procedures used, in teaching the “Rational Numbers” Unit according to cognitive apprenticeship, helped develop algebraic thinking. The research recommended the need to train female teachers to use cognitive apprenticeship in mathematics teaching and to use teaching methods that help female students use algebraic thinking as well.

الملخص

هدف البحث تعرُّف أثر برنامج في وحدة "الأعداد النسبية" قائم على التلمذة المعرفية على تنمية التفكير الجبري لدى طالبات المرحلة المتوسطة. وقد أعدَّت الباحثة دليلًا للمُعلمة، واختبارًا للتفكير الجبري. وتكونت عينة البحث من (60) طالبة من طالبات الصف الثاني المتوسط بمنطقة الجوف بالمملكة العربية السعودية، وتقسمت إلى مجموعة تجريبية (30 طالبة)، والآخر مجموعة ضابطة (30 طالبة)، وطبق اختبار التفكير الجبري قبليًا، ثم التدريس وفق التلمذة المعرفية للمجموعة التجريبية، في حين درست المجموعة الضابطة بالأساليب المُعتادة، ثم تمَّ تطبيق اختبار التفكير الجبري تطبيقًا بعديًا. وتوصل البحث إلى تفوق طالبات المجموعة التجريبية على المجموعة الضابطة في التطبيق البعدي لاختبار التفكير الجبري ككل وأبعاده الفرعية، وقد أرجعت الباحثة ذلك إلى أن الإجراءات التدريسية المستخدمة في تدريس في وحدة "الأعداد النسبية" وفق التلمذة المعرفية ساعدت على تنمية التفكير الجبري. وأوصى البحث بضرورة تلقي ملعلمات الرياضيات تدريب على توظيف التلمذة المعرفية في تدريس الرياضيات، وكذلك استخدام أساليب تدريسية التي تمكن الطالبات على استخدام التفكير الجبري . الكلمات المفتاحية: برنامج مقترح، التلمذة المعرفية، التفكير الجبري.
